Description
A School District Plant Foreman is a working lead who performs maintenance/custodial work while also overseeing the daily operations of grounds/custodial staff.  The Plant Foreman is responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising maintenance, custodial and grounds maintenance activities, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of school facilities, and managing related resources. 
 
Full-Time: 260 days per year (12 month)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and Training:
    Train, supervise, and evaluate custodial and grounds staff, ensuring they follow safety procedures and perform tasks correctly. 
     
  • Work Planning and Scheduling:
    Plan, assign, and prioritize work orders, develop daily and weekly schedules, and ensure timely completion of tasks. 
     
  • Facility Maintenance:
    Maintain buildings and grounds, including cleaning, repairs, and addressing safety hazards. 
     
  • Resource Management:
    Manage custodial and grounds supplies and equipment, including ordering, inventory, and ensuring proper use. 
     
  • Reporting and Record Keeping:
    Maintain records, prepare reports, and document maintenance activities, including safety inspections and emergency incidents. 
     
  • Coordination and Communication:
    Coordinate with school administrators, maintenance staff, and other departments to ensure effective facility management. 
     
  • Special Events:
    Prepare facilities for special events and ensure they are properly secured after events. 
     
  • Emergency Response:
    Respond to emergencies quickly and calmly, taking appropriate actions to ensure safety. 
     
  • Budgeting:
    Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance, grounds, and custodial upkeep. 
     
Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    Typically requires experience in custodial work, grounds, maintenance, and/or related fields. 
     
  • Knowledge:
    Knowledge of cleaning procedures, maintenance techniques, safety regulations, and relevant equipment. 
     
  • Skills:
    Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential. 
     
  • Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent, with additional training or certifications in related fields may be preferred.
