Director of Instruction and Curriculum

 

Position Summary:

This position is designed to support ongoing professional learning for all teachers and support staff. Key to this effort is the continuous coaching and feedback offered in unison with non-evaluative classroom observations. These supports are intentionally focused on increasing teachers’ content knowledge and practices with a goal of improving student achievement. Additionally, the incumbent will share responsibility with site and district administration to ensure that the district-approved curriculum is implemented with fidelity, aligns with state standards, possesses the appropriate level of rigor and support, and falls within the zone of proximal development for all students.

• Promotes district instructional priorities by providing support and demonstration for the following skills: training, modeling, coaching, and instructional guidance necessary for the operation of the instructional program.
• Ensures fidelity of instruction via monitoring and observation.
• Conducts informal classroom observations, provides feedback to teachers, and assists with the development of new teachers.
• Facilitates professional learning communities and assists teachers with collaborative lesson planning.
• Assist teachers in monitoring student progress while advising on academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments.
• Conducts analysis of formative and summative student data and recommends modifications to instruction.
• Uses observation and achievement data to identify professional development needs and designs and delivers site based professional learning.
• Assists with reviewing classroom lesson plans and provides lesson plan feedback to teachers.
• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by principal, immediate supervisor and/or district-level administration.
• Participation in at least one school committee.
• Regular participation in weekly PLCs and staff meetings.
• Assist and/or coordinate the development of a master schedule.
• Assist and/or coordinate new teacher orientation 
• Assist and/or coordinate mentorship program
